It is fair to say that 2021 was not disimilar to 2020 in terms of performances. Having worked really hard on a great short film set, we had to pull out of the first gig for 15 months because of Covid, our first cancellation in 14 years. However things got better as the year went on, and we thoroughly enjoyed playing to an audience again. We have erred on the side of caution in booking gigs, because the shadow of Covid is still hanging heavily and cancelling performances is something we really do not wish to be doing. It has given us time to focus on The Kid though - which will be debuted at the Little Big Festival in Ashburton in August 2022.

What can we say about 2020 that hasn't already been said? I think perhaps challenging is the best description. However it was not without its highs. We started of the year with two really fabulous sold out performances in great venues to appreciative and friendly audiences. It was very disappointing to have our diary wiped when we had some great shows lined up, but it does mean that when life returns to normal we will be able to find new dates. Dave erected a polytunnel structure in the garden, so that we could practice outside, but still have shelter. The break then gave us breathing time to work on a very exciting new project, Charlie Chaplin's The Kid, which is newly in the public domain. We anticipate this being ready to perform alongside our other short films, by the summer of 2021.

2019 was a creative year, as we prepared a series of short films to show at Glastonbury Festival. We also had the pleasure of a number of other off the wall engagements at the festival, including performing Zombie in costume as a prelude to the film the Dead Don’t Die, stepping in for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper to perform the theme song for A Star is Born, and our favourite diversion, leading a Mamma Mia singalong warm up, complete with choreography arranged by Lizzy and Dave’s daughter Poppy.

What a year 2018 has been. Kath broke her wrist in July, leading to a frantic rearrangement of the Cottage on Dartmoor score to accommodate a stand in guitarist for Port Eliot Festival. This led to some interesting experimentation with a slide guitar, but we were all pretty relieved when Kath regained use of her wrist. So now we still have two fully functioning classical/ jazz/ pop guitarists and Lizzy can relax without on the piano fill and concentrate on mastering the scizzors.
Among our most memorable and sold out performances was St Bart’s Church in Lostwithiel where we received perhaps our favourite accolade yet; "I would travel to another continent to see Wurlitza." We had another northern tour, thoroughly enjoying returning to Oscars in Ludlow. We surpassed outselves in the beautiful Regal in Tenbury Wells. The sound was superb, the venue was beautiful, the audience intimate and we all agreed it was the best Sunrise performance ever.

In 2017 after a short tour of the North to Ulverston and Blackpool, we took a break to concentrate on completing our new soundtrack to the fine Anthony Asquith film A Cottage on Dartmoor, which we debuted at Port Eliot Festival. Sadly Lizzy’s Mum, Frankie Lister, died suddenly in June, which was a great loss. Frankie had been a huge support to us from the beginning, and is very much missed.
